In Oman, four individuals have perished and another has been critically injured due to flooding resulting from heavy downpours. This incident involved a group of sixteen hikers in the Hajar Mountains, as reported by local authorities.

The Hajar Mountains are approximately a 90-minute journey north of Muscat, the country's capital. Compared to southern Oman, where torrential rains are common in the summer months, such heavy precipitation is relatively uncommon in this region.

Neighboring Yemen has seen its plight worsen as a consequence of this excessive rainfall and flooding. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that over 268,000 individuals displaced by conflict have been adversely affected by this situation. Homes and temporary shelters have been destroyed by the flooding waters.

Back in April, the region experienced its heaviest rainfall in decades. In Oman, this unprecedented deluge claimed the lives of 20 individuals. Furthermore, Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest in the world, experienced significant disruptions as a result.

The Hajar Mountains, located in Oman, are renowned tourist destinations within the Arabian Peninsula. Despite its northern location being less prone to heavy rainfalls compared to southern Oman, recent floods have also impacted this region, affecting tourists like the hikers mentioned earlier.
