- Music star has to postpone more concerts
Rod Stewart (79) has once again had to postpone a show. After having to cancel a significant performance in Las Vegas four days ago, further concert rescheduling has followed - this time for different health reasons. As announced on his official Instagram page, the British singer is currently suffering from a COVID-19 infection and has had to cancel two shows as a result.
Both the concert in the US state of Nevada and the subsequent one in California have been rescheduled - not cancelled - and are set to take place on August 18 and 20 respectively. Ticket holders are advised to keep their tickets, as they will remain valid.
Vegas Show Number 200 Also a No-Show
Earlier in the week, Stewart had to unexpectedly cancel a very special engagement. In 2011, he first performed "Rod Stewart: The Hits" in Las Vegas. On August 7, he was set to celebrate the conclusion of his Las Vegas concerts with his 200th performance in the famous Colosseum of Caesars Palace. However, this was not meant to be.
At the time, COVID-19 was not cited as the reason for the cancellation. In the corresponding post, Stewart wrote that he had contracted streptococcal pharyngitis, a bacterial infection of the throat. "Most people can work with this, but obviously not me," Stewart explained the cancellation.
However, Stewart's long-standing Vegas performances have not come to an ignominious end. While it was initially meant to be his last show, just before his cancellation, the 79-year-old was able to announce that he will be returning for more performances next year. "Vegas, I'm having too much fun to let this be the end, so we'll be back for an encore," he also announced on Instagram.
