Man from California faces charges for threatening Fulton County DA Fani Willis regarding Trump's prosecution.

Marc Schultz, a 66-year-old man from Chula Vista, California, made his first federal court appearance in San Diego on Thursday. He was charged on April 24 and is set to be arraigned in Atlanta in June, according to a statement.

Schultz is accused of posting numerous comments on two different YouTube videos in October targeting Willis, threatening her with physical violence and murder, saying "she will be killed like a dog."

"Sending death threats to public officials is a criminal offense that we will not tolerate," said US Attorney Ryan Buchanan in a statement. "Our office will continue to work closely with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to make sure public officials can perform their duties without fear of harm or intimidation."

The investigation into Schultz was led by the FBI. It's unclear if he has legal representation at this time.

"Threats of violence against government officials are a serious offense that undermines the foundation of our society," said Keri Farley, special agent in charge of the FBI's Atlanta field office.

In response, Willis expressed her appreciation to Buchanan, his staff, and the FBI for their efforts in ensuring her safety and the safety of her staff and family. "It's heartening to know that the life of an African American elected official has value and that these authorities are working tirelessly to protect me and others facing similar threats," she said.

Last fall, a man from Alabama was charged by a federal grand jury in Atlanta for leaving threatening voicemails to Fulton County officials due to their involvement in the case against Trump and others regarding attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.

Since taking on this case, Willis has faced ongoing threats, leading to her being assigned extra security protection near her Georgia residence, as previously reported by CNN.
