Law enforcement officials discover dismembered remains in Kasseler Park.

In the investigation of an apparent murder without a body in a German city, authorities have found suspected remnants of the victim. The missing individual is believed to be Stanimir V., a 26-year-old who disappeared weeks prior and was last seen in Kassel. A suspect in custody for murder allegations provided a tip leading to the discovery of the remains hidden in a bush on a Tuesday. A forensic examination is still underway to confirm the identity and cause of death. The crime scene at the federal garden showgrounds in the southern part of the city is currently secured for evidence collection.

Initial escape abroad

The 26-year-old Bulgarian national with no fixed address vanished on June 7. Witnesses last spotted him in Kassel. His family reported him missing the following day, and his phone was found abandoned at a bus stop. Despite multiple searches in a nearby woodland area by police and their canine units, no trace of the missing man was found. Police appeals for information yielded no results. However, the investigation suggested that the man may have fallen victim to a crime, but his body remained undiscovered.

Suspicion then fell upon a 28-year-old acquaintance of Stanimir V., also a Bulgarian citizen. Although he was initially apprehended abroad shortly after the disappearance, the man later returned to Kassel at the end of July. He has since been in police custody. The 28-year-old is suspected of using a blunt instrument to end Stanimir V.'s life. The details of the crime remain unclear, and it remains an active area of investigation. The suspected motive behind the murder is believed to be envy.

The 28-year-old suspect, who initially fled to another European Union country, later returned to Kassel and is currently in police custody. If found guilty, he may face extradition procedures within the framework of the European Union's mutual legal assistance agreements.
