Royal Variety Performance - Kate and William have a flash of laughter

No sign of disgruntlement over the revelations in the scandal book "Endgame": Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (41) were in high spirits at the Royal Variety Performance in London. The traditional show was broadcast on British television on Sunday (December 17).

However, it was recorded on November 30 - one day after it was revealed in a Dutch translation of"Endgame" which member of the royal family had expressed concerns about the skin color of Prince Harry (39) and Duchess Meghan's (42) son Archie (4) before he was born. Meghan and Harry had made such allegations public in an interview with Oprah Winfrey (69) in 2021, without naming the family member.

Prince William laughs through tears

'Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival', the full title of the book, is also about an alleged power struggle between King Charles III (75) and his son William, as well as Kate and Meghan's allegedly cool relationship. There was no sign of any of this at the Royal Variety Performance. William and Kate were visibly amused by the opening monologue from host Bradley Walsh (63). The presenter, known from "The Chase", the British original of the popular quiz show "Asked - Hunted", jokingly complained, among other things, that he had not yet been awarded a medal by the royal family.

Prince William was filmed wiping tears of laughter from his eyes during a performance by comedian Tom Allen (40).

Cher and a royal visit from Sweden

Kate and William were joined in the royal box by other high-ranking visitors. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden (46) did the honors with her husband Prince Daniel (50). The Swedish heir to the throne had previously visited her British counterpart at Windsor Castle.

Cher (77), a true showbiz aristocrat, was also a guest at the Royal Variety Performance. The US-American sang her new Christmas song "DJ Play a Christmas Song". Alongside Cher, Rick Astley (57) also performed on stage at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Royal Variety Performance took place for the first time in 1912 and has been held every year since 1957. The gala, which is usually attended by high representatives of the British aristocracy, collects donations for the Royal Variety Charity. This organization cares for old, sick or impoverished members of the British entertainment industry.
