Hamburg SPD elects new board

The second day of the Hamburg SPD state party conference on Saturday (9.30 a.m.) will see the election of the executive committee. Changes at the top are hardly to be expected. According to the proposal of the current board, the chairmanship duo of Senator for Economic Affairs Melanie Leonhard and Nils Weiland, who was appointed co-chairman two years ago, will continue until 2025 and thus lead the party into the next parliamentary elections.

The second day will open with a speech by Mayor Peter Tschentscher. Following the report by the SPD parliamentary group, the agenda will then include discussions on motions. The motion book contains 58 motions on a wide range of topics.

At the beginning of the state party conference in the Bürgerhaus Wilhelmsburg on Friday evening, the nomination of the Hamburg candidates for the SPD federal list for next year's European elections was on the agenda.

The election of the executive committee at the Hamburg SPD state party conference on Saturday may influence future Parties activities. Despite the proposed continuation of the chairmanship duo by the current board, discussions on motions for the EU Elections could lead to changes within the SPD.
