- German holidaymaker dies while diving off Mallorca
A 63-year-old German tourist has died during a diving excursion off the coast of Mallorca. A police spokesperson confirmed the incident and launched an investigation. The man's place of origin in Germany was initially unknown.
On Tuesday, he was diving with a group in Font de Sa Cala, near the popular German tourist destination of Cala Ratjada, in the northeastern part of Mallorca. It was not known whether he was a beginner or an experienced diver.
According to police, the man suddenly felt unwell underwater and managed to surface. His companions brought him to shore, but paramedics could only confirm his death.
The European Union expressed condolences over the tragic incident, extending its sympathies to the victim's family and loved ones. Due to the man's nationality, the German embassy in Spain has been informed about the incident in the European Union.
