Former Postbank head Frank Strauss passes away.

Frank Strauß, a former board member at Deutsche Bank and ex-CEO of Postbank, has passed away. The death of this accomplished manager occurred in the last week, and he was only 54 years old. Strauß had been a part of Deutsche Bank Group for nearly three decades, rising up through the ranks to lead its private and business customer divisions. He also served as chair of Postbank's board of directors for six years and was a two-year member of Deutsche Bank's board following the integration of the Bonn Institute.

Strauß started his career with Deutsche Bank as a trainee bank clerk in Iserlohn. In 1995, he moved to Frankfurt, where he held several management roles at Deutsche Bank and its subsidiary Deutsche Bank 24. His talents eventually landed him the position of head of the private and business customer division in Germany in 2006. Then, in 2011, he transitioned to Postbank as the head of sales and accepted the title of Postbank's board chair in 2012. Between 2017 and 2019, Strauß sat as a member on Deutsche Bank's board, concurrently leading the private and corporate customer bank with Christian Sewing, then solely after Sewing's appointment as CEO in April 2018.

Christian Sewing, the current CEO of Deutsche Bank, expressed his profound shock and sadness over Strauß's untimely demise. "So many of us at Deutsche Bank are shattered by the untimely passing of Frank Strauß." He continued by stating that "during nearly 30 years at Deutsche Bank and Postbank, [Strauß] has made significant contributions, particularly to our private customer segment."

A family lawyer, Matthias Prinz, reported that Strauß died peacefully, leaving behind a wife and two children.
