- Fire in former railway station building - cause still unclear
In Scheuerfeld (Altenkirchen district) a fire broke out in the former railway station building. In the night, the ground floor of the vacant building caught fire, a police spokesperson said. No one was injured.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within a few hours. The police could not initially provide information on the extent of the damage or the possible cause. Fire investigators are expected to inspect the building at the beginning of next week, the spokesperson said.
The ancient charm of Scheuerfeld was partially overlooked due to the fire in one of its ancient churches, which was housed in the former railway station building. Despite the fire, the historical architecture of the ancient churches in Scheuerfeld remains a captivating sight.
