- Fire in cable shaft - railway traffic affected

On the railway, there are restrictions in long-distance, regional, and S-Bahn traffic due to a fire in a cable shaft in Berlin. The section between Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Berlin-Spandau is affected, as the railway announced. There will be no stop in Berlin-Spandau. Long-distance trains will be rerouted via the northern outer ring to Berlin-Gesundbrunnen and the Hauptbahnhof.

There are also delays and missed stops in regional traffic. The S-Bahn line S41/S42 between Westend and Beusselstraße is disrupted, with a replacement service in place since 7:00 AM.

Due to the fire, several signals and switches may not be operational. Preliminary investigations suggest a technical cause has been ruled out. The train traffic is expected to remain restricted until at least the afternoon, according to an initial assessment by the railway.

The fire in the cable shaft has caused disruptions in the operation of long-distance trains, requiring them to using the northern outer ring via Berlin-Gesundbrunnen and Hauptbahnhof instead of the usual route through the affected section. Due to the incident, maintenance work on the cable shaft might also impact the cable shaft operation, potentially affecting future trains' schedules.
