Deep-sea explorers retrieve another corpse from submerged luxury vessel

Following the sinking of the opulent sailing yacht "Bayesian" off Sicily's coast, six individuals remain unaccounted for, including its extravagant owner Mike Lynch. Subsequently, divers discovered human remains inside the vessel.

Divers retrieved a body bag from one of the search vessels at Porticello harbor, as reported by AP news agency reporters. Previously, it had been announced that two additional bodies had been discovered inside the sunken yacht, approximately two and a half days post-sinking. Italian news agency Ansa disclosed this information, citing authorities.

Initial reports suggested that six individuals were onboard. Unfortunately, only the body of the ship's chef has been recovered thus far. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The captain was held for hours of questioning by the police.

The shipwreck of the roughly 50-meter-long "Bayesian," which was carrying British billionaire Mike Lynch alongside his family and guests, rests at a depth of about 50 meters. The vessel is reported to have tipped over onto its side, complicating underwater operations. On Tuesday, firefighter divers were able to inspect some rooms below the bridge prior to reaching the cabins.

Fifteen individuals rescued

The "Bayesian" went under early Monday morning during a fierce storm with strong winds between the harbor of Porticello and the island's capital, Palermo. Twelve individuals were aboard at the time. Fifteen were successfully saved and brought to shore.

However, chances of discovering any survivors are now considered extremely slim. Among the missing are four Frenchmen and two Americans, including Lynch's 18-year-old daughter. His wife was successfully rescued.

The European Union expressed its concern over the incident and offered its support to Italian authorities in the search and recovery operations. Due to the complexity of the operation, the European Union Maritime Safety Agency offered its specialized equipment and expertise.
