America brings back 11 citizens from northeastern Syria.
On Tuesday, Blinken stated that they're working on a "difficult process of bringing people back and rehabilitating their lives" in close collaboration with other government agencies.
He mentioned that during this operation, the US helped bring home six Canadian, four Dutch and one Finnish nationals, including eight children.
As of now, 30,000 individuals from 60 different countries are staying at the al-Hol and Roj camps in northeastern Syria. The majority of these people are youngsters.
Blinken further added, "The answer to the humanitarian and security issues in Syria's refugee camps and incarceration facilities is for countries to bring back, refurbish, reintegrate, and when necessary, enforce responsibility for misconduct." The US is dedicated to aiding those countries intending to take their citizens back from northeast Syria, and finding options, including resettlement, for people who can't return to their communities or homelands.
