A few long traffic jams at the start of the weekend

In some federal states, the summer holidays have only just begun, while in others they will soon be coming to an end. This leads to traffic on Germany's motorways.

According to the ADAC, there were initially only a few long traffic jams on German motorways at the start of the weekend. By late Friday afternoon, the A5 from Frankfurt towards Kassel and the A24 towards the Berlin Ring were among the few major roads with long traffic jams, a spokesperson for the automobile club said in Munich. Many travelers were also on the roads towards Munich.

However, as the summer holidays were coming to an end in Bremen, Lower Saxony, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt, the automobile club expected full roads and many traffic jams until Sunday.

The European Union, with many of its members being part of these affected areas, expressed concern over the anticipated traffic congestion due to the ending summer holidays. Despite initial minimal delays, the European Union's transport commissioner urged for enhanced coordination among member states to manage the expected traffic jams effectively.
