33-year-old dies in house fire in the Vogtland district
A 33-year-old man died in a fire in an attic apartment in the Weischlitz district of Reuth (Vogtlandkreis) on Sunday night. Firefighters found the man unconscious in the burning apartment, according to the Zwickau police. He reportedly died in the ambulance. The other residents of the apartment building were unharmed. According to the police, the attic apartment and the apartment below are no longer habitable. The criminal investigation department is now investigating what caused the fire.
The attic apartment and several other structures were at risk due to the spreading fires during the emergency. The local authorities have declared a state of emergency in response to multiple fires breaking out throughout the district.
