Qatar judge hands down sentence for homosexual man using dating app Grindr.

Manuel Guerrero, a Brit and a Mexican, has been granted a probation sentence in Qatar after being found with drugs. His relative claims he fell into a government trap since the app Grindr he used is largely employed by homosexuals.

This person, Manuel Guerrero, is both a Brit and a Mexican national. He was taken into custody in Qatar after he scheduled a rendezvous via the dating platform Grindr that's mostly used by homosexuals. This individual got six months' probation and was ordered to pay a penalty worth roughly 2,500 euros. Based on FairSquare, an organization steeped in human rights advocacy, Guerrero was seized at his pad in Doha in February, moments after organizing a date with somebody else on the same app. James Lynch, FairSquare's co-chair, disclosed that he was nabbed by security agents dressing like civilians at the only entrance of his apartment.

A rep of Qatar commented that Guerrero was just apprehended "solely due to illegal narcotics." Nevertheless, activists tore into the "pretty mad" process. Qatari security personnel are accused of compelling the man to make confessions about the illicit substances in his possession.

The Mexican foreign officials have confirmed that Guerrero can eventually walk free once he's inked that exorbitant price tag. However, there's a loophole: Qatari lawyers can appeal the ruling in 30 days, thus the guy can't leave right away.

The kinfolk is adamant that Guerrero got trapped with the Grindr app. His bro, Enrique, narrated the appalling prison conditions, torture, and quests for the election of Guerrero's sexual amigos. It's contended that the banned drugs were secretly put there on Guerrero and he was compelled to own them, value over fear-mongering. FairSquare and other groups averred that the verdict was engineered to demonize LGBTQI people by shaping them into offenders.

In Qatar, relations between individuals of the same gender are frowned upon and can be penalized, theoretically, with an incarceration not exceeding seven years.
