In Berlin, there are 330 Medical Care Centers (MVZ) approved. Most of them are in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf (51), Mitte (49), and Tempelhof-Schoeneberg (38), according to the Senate Department for Science, Health, and Care, in response to a written inquiry from the CDU, citing data from the Kassenaerztliche Vereinigung. The fewest are in Spandau (15) and Marzahn-Hellersdorf and Reinickendorf (each 18).

210 MVZ are therefore operated by licensed physicians, 102 by hospitals, and the rest by non-profit organizations (14) and providers of non-medical dialysis services (4). In the MVZ, there are 1,997 employed physicians and doctors.

The number of MVZ with dental care offerings has significantly increased since 2015, from 3 to 157 (as of March 31, 2024), according to data from the Kassenzahnaerztliche Vereinigung Berlin (KZV).

MVZ, according to the Kassenaerztliche Vereinigung, are medically led institutions that offer ambulatory care - either for a specific field or interdisciplinary - under one roof. In addition, there are purely psychotherapeutic MVZ. The centers are considered an important link in the coordination of ambulatory and inpatient care.
