"Reggie the Vampire" returns again - A heartfelt hero, yet void of life and rhythm.

A life full of unending youth and sweetness is what people might expect from being a vampire, as seen in the horror comedy "Reginald the Vampire." However, they'll be surprised to know that obsession with beauty is more prevalent among vampires than among humans. Reginald (Jacob Batalon, 27), a new vampire with a few extra pounds on his timeless body, is a perfect example of this.

In the show's first ten episodes, Reginald didn't just bite into the necks of many, but also fit himself into the ruthless and snobby vampire society. This remarkable transformation led to a second season after the US broadcast. The next ten episodes began broadcasting in Germany on June 6th on the pay-TV channel SYFY, and were definitely worth watching.

An Angel with an Apocalypse Clock: What's in Store in Season Two

Lately, Reginald had some luck: Finally, an age-old vampire named Angela (Savannah Basley) took notice of him at the end of Season 1. He went from being a bloodthirsty vampire slayer to an undead being with special abilities. He also managed to pass the vampire admission test with his cunning.

However, it seems that neither bloodthirsty vampires nor Reginald's love troubles are his biggest concerns. Suddenly, an angel named Balestro appears and declares that he will destroy the entire vampire population in exactly 30 days - like an angel with a built-in apocalypse clock. Reginald and his friends don't want this to happen, but how can they defend their race against an invincible foe?

Apparently, even supernatural beings can have terrestrial issues. Just like Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega, 21) faced in her series. And fans seeking new shows similar to "What We Do in the Shadows" will feel right at home with this.

Reginald's difficulties in feeling like he belongs, facing discrimination because of his body, and combating a superficial society influence - all while dealing with increasing feelings: "Reginald the Vampire" is as much a horror comedy as it is a coming-of-age story. But how can you grow up if you can't age?

Actor Jacob Batalon is the ideal choice for the lead role of Reginald. Previously, he played Ned in "Spider-Man," being overshadowed by charismatic characters like Tom Holland. Now, as a vampire, he can fully step into the limelight and exemplify that heroes don't have to have the ideal body mass index.

The first season of the show mainly focused on explaining "Reginald the Vampire's" world and rules to the viewers. Thus, in Season 2, which is based on the "Fat Vampire" books by author Johnny B. Truant, more emphasis is placed on interpersonal relations. This provides the characters with more depth, making the viewers more concerned about their fates with every passing moment of Angel Balestro's ultimatum.

Fans of the amusing vampire mockumentary "What We Do in the Shadows" can indulge themselves in this show. The German premiere of "Reginald the Vampire" Season 2 started with the first episode on June 6th at 9:55 pm on SYFY, with the subsequent episodes airing every Thursday at 9:50 pm. In addition, all episodes will be available on-demand after broadcast.
