Near Niebüll in the northwest of Schleswig-Holstein, a 21-year-old woman was found dead in a forest. Police believe it's a murder case. A police spokesperson from Flensburg confirmed this in response to inquiries. The victim was located during the night on Saturday. The Flensburg police's murder commission and the public prosecutor's office have begun investigating.
The victim was a resident at a care facility who had left her apartment around 8:00 am on Friday to take a walk in Marschenpark west of Niebüll. She was reported missing later that day after she didn't contact her relatives as planned. A thorough search was conducted until evening, and the body was found.
The investigation is in its early stages, with no clear suspects identified as of yet. Authorities are urging anyone who might have seen anything suspicious to come forward and contact the police. "Bild" newspaper reported that it was a passer-by, with their dog, who discovered the body lying along a footpath, prompting them to call the police.
