Why Kelly Clarkson feels she couldn't substituted Katy Perry in 'American Idol'
The winner of Season 1, who has achieved Grammy awards, coaching on "The Voice," and hosting a successful talk show, Kelly Clarkson, is not considering to fill in Katy Perry's spot on "American Idol."
Some enthusiastic followers have been urging Clarkson to rejoin the panel of judges on "American Idol," but she explained to Entertainment Tonight that the role would consume too much of her time.
"No, I can't do that," she said. "I made a promise to my kids, and if I took up this offer, I'd have to be in LA, which means I'd have to leave my current home in New York. I had to quit 'The Voice' as well, where I loved being part of the team. I miss them dearly."
Currently, Clarkson and her two children, River, 9, and Remington, 8, live happily in New York City.
"We enjoy spending time at the park every day and just being together," she continued. "That's the reason I'm unable to participate in 'Idol' - it's all about my kids."
Kelly Clarkson was the very first winner of "American Idol" back in 2002.

Despite the appeal from fans, Kelly Clarkson chose to decline the opportunity to replace Katy Perry on "American Idol" due to the significant time commitment required, which would result in leaving her home in New York City and her position on "The Voice." In her current role as a mother to River, 9, and Remington, 8, Kelly values spending quality time with her children at the park in New York City, making her unavailable for the judging panel on "American Idol."
