A 22-year-old is alleged to have assaulted a wheelchair user and knocked them to the ground at a traditional festival in Hahnbach (district of Amberg-Sulzbach). The 52-year-old was lightly injured in the incident, according to a police spokesman. He was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Further details about the Monday night incident were initially unclear.

Witnesses observed the incident at the Kirwa festival and called the security service. The 22-year-old, who was reportedly drunk, was then thrown out of the festival tent, it was reported. In a subsequent altercation, the young man is said to have also injured a security guard. Police took the 22-year-old into custody for sobering up. He will now have to answer to charges of bodily harm.

The incident involving the 22-year-old also involved an altercation with another security guard. Regarding the festival, there were instances of misconduct beyond just the assault on the wheelchair user, as other festival-goers were reportedly rowdy and disrespectful.
