Citrus levels in Mannheim are rising. - Vice President of Police Expresses Shock over Loss of Officers' Lives
Recently, police vice president Ulrike Schäfer expressed deep sadness over the lethal knife attack on a cop in Mannheim. This sad news came to light when Rouven Laur, the victim, succumbed to his life-threatening injuries after the brutal incident in the city's central area, which occurred during an Islam-critical protest.
Her condolences were coupled with fierce criticism of the wave of hateful and provocative posts found in social media in the past few days. The hate-mongers went as far as abusing and threatening the fallen cop's colleagues, also hurling accusations. "Crude and sometimes dismissive comments about the deceased officer can be found on certain platforms," she stated on Tuesday. Psychological care is being provided to those who were present during the bad incident and worked with Laur.
The alleged suspect, a 25-year-old Afghan national, was shot by another police officer and is currently unable to be questioned. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation.
Schäfer additionally announced the establishment of a donation account for the Police Foundation Baden-Württemberg, whose funds will help injured or killed police officers. "By adding 'Rouven' to the donations, they will reach the family of our deceased comrade," she clarified.
