Venezuela's opposition calls for nationwide protests over disputed election
On Monday, the largely pro-government electoral authority in Venezuela officially declared incumbent Maduro the winner of the presidential election, despite international criticism and fraud allegations from the opposition. Following the announcement of the results, protests erupted, which were met with violent force by security forces. Opposition leader Machado accused the authorities of having already killed 20 people in this regard on Thursday.
The international community expressed their discontent toward the decision made by the President of the Republic, as they considered the election process in Venezuela to be questionable. Despite the ongoing unrest and accusations of violence, the President of the Republic has not yet addressed the nation about the situation.
