- Venezuela's Highest Judicial Body Endorses Maduro's Electoral Triumph
Following the questionable presidential election in Venezuela, filled with accusations of fraud, the Supreme Court, a loyal entity to the administration, endorsed the triumph of authoritarian figurehead Nicolás Maduro. This news was shared by the Court's President, Caryslia Rodríguez. Due to a cyber-assault on the voting infrastructure, the figures from each polling station were unable to be disclosed.
The pro-administration electoral board proclaimed Maduro, who has held power since 2013, as the victor of the late July election. Nevertheless, the absolute results have yet to be published. Opponents charge the government with electoral deceit and celebrate the success of their nominee, Edmundo González Urrutia. The United States and various Latin American nations have acknowledged Maduro's election victory as the previous diplomat. Meanwhile, the European Union and the Organization of American States remain skeptical about the authenticity of the official election results.
On social media, the UN's probe team on Venezuela issued a warning. They considered both the Supreme Court and the electoral body as non-autonomous and impartial entities. These institutions are led by individuals from the ruling party and are suspected of participating in state oppression. The government has manipulated the court's actions.
The pro-government Supreme Court, headed by President Caryslia Rodríguez, validated Maduro's allegedly fraudulent election victory. Despite international skepticism, The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, continues to maintain power, contested by his opposition, Edmundo González Urrutia.
