Russian guided aerial bombs hit a construction hypermarket in Kharkiv, Ukraine, killing at least two people, Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, said.

Two individuals lost their lives, while others remain unaccounted for, following a Russian attack on a hardware store in Kharkiv.

"Recently, two Russian guided bombs targeted a construction hypermarket in Kharkiv. Oleh Syniehubov, the leader of the regional military administration in Kharkiv, reported on Telegram that two people lost their lives as a result of these strikes. He added that specialized services were deployed to the site and assistance was given to the injured. Syniehubov confirmed that there were no military sites in the vicinity. The city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov, informed journalists that around 200 people were present in the building when the incident occurred and that contact with approximately 15 workers of the store has not been established. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the situation as a 'brutal attack' on his social media page, asserting that around 200 individuals could have been inside the building.

Concurrently, emergency response efforts, which include aiding those in need and extinguishing the fire that has completely consumed the 10,000 square-meter building, are underway. The attack on the hypermarket follows a series of similar incidents where Russian forces have attacked various parts of the city. Specifically, on Thursday, seven individuals perished in Russian attacks on Kharkiv, with a printing house being one of the targeted locations.

In response to the continuing threats towards his country, Zelensky mentioned that if Ukraine had a sufficient quantity of air defense systems and modern combat aircraft, such attacks could not have happened. He emphasized the urgent need for a significant strengthening of air defense and appealed to both leaders and other countries for their support.
