- Two dead in road accident in North Rhine-Westphalia
In a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a car in Halle (Westphalia), two people died. The 21-year-old motorcycle rider and his 21-year-old passenger succumbed to their severe injuries at the scene of the accident, as reported by the police.
According to the police, on Wednesday evening, a group of six motorcyclists was traveling together. In a curve, the rider of one motorcycle, for unknown reasons, ended up in the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming car.
The 21-year-old driver of the car was taken to the hospital with shock and minor injuries, but has since been discharged. The motorcycle group and the relatives of the deceased were supported by emergency services.
Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy. The road was closed for approximately 4.5 hours during the investigation. It was reopened shortly after midnight.
The tragic accident involving the motorcycle and the car led to an increased awareness about road safety within the motorcyclist group. Regrettably, such accidents can have far-reaching consequences, affecting not only the individuals involved but also their families and friends.
