Two dead bodies found: Poisoning due to broken heating system

Two people have died of carbon monoxide poisoning in a house in Braunschweig. The fire department found the bodies of a 64-year-old woman and her 67-year-old partner in the Wenden district on Wednesday afternoon, the police announced on Thursday. Both had died of carbon monoxide poisoning due to a faulty heating system - even before entering the house, the emergency services had detected a significantly increased level of carbon monoxide. According to the information, the investigators are assuming an accident. Three dead dogs were also found in the house. The investigation is ongoing.

Relatives of the couple had previously contacted the police because they were worried, the police said. The couple had not been contactable for two days.
