Slated for relocation by 2026/2027, the economic and traffic departments are set to establish their new headquarters within the Dancing Towers situated on Hamburg's renowned Reeperbahn.

Approaching the threshold of the years 2026 and 2027 - Two administrative entities are making their way into the Dancing Skyscrapers

The Grooving Towers on Hamburg's Reeperbahn will soon be home to both the Economic and Traffic Administration. Moreover, the Hamburg Promotion Companies are slated to relocate into the structure designed by architect Hadi Teherani by the year's end of 2026/2027, as per the declaration by the Financial, Economic, and Traffic Administration. The lease agreement was finalized in August by the ISZ Immobilien Service Zentrum GmbH of the Financial Department and the landlord, Hansainvest Real Assets GmbH, for a span of 20 years. A parliamentary approval is still pending.

Approximately 980 individuals will occupy floors 1 to 17

As per the details, around 980 agents of the administrations and promotions will gobble up a considerable chunk of floors 1 to 17 in the Grooving Towers, which were completed in 2012 and boast a total lettable area of roughly 21,000 square meters. The structure already adheres to the strictest energy standards and will hence aid in achieving the climate targets set by the Senate. Currently, the administrations remain stationed in a historically power-inefficient building.

The Grooving Towers - built in 2012 for around 180 million euros at the threshold of the "scandalous mile" - consist of two buildings 90 and 85 meters high. The name originates from the bent facade construction, which at first inclines towards each other and subsequently bends in contrasting heights in opposite directions. The structure houses office spaces, besides accommodations for a hotel and the conventional Mojo Club, spread over up to 24 floors.

Teherani - Germany's celebrated architect

Hadi Teherani is Germany's celebrated architect. At the tender age of six, the child of an Iranian merchant decamped to Hamburg in 1960. From 1977 to 1984, Teherani earned a degree in architecture in Brunswick, followed by a teaching tenure at the Technical University of Aachen. In 1991, he co-founded the architectural firm Bothe Richter Teherani (BRT Architects) in Hamburg along with Jens Bothe and Kai Richter. The firm has designed a plethora of spectacle buildings both in Germany and overseas, such as office buildings in the Cologne Rhineauhafen, the long-distance train station at Frankfurt Airport, and the Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.

The Reeperbahn, known for its Grooving Towers, will see a significant change as administrative offices relocate there. By the end of 2026/2027, the Economic and Traffic Administration, along with Hamburg Promotion Companies, will occupy the energy-efficient Reeperbahn railway building, designed by Hadi Teherani.
