Turbine Potsdam hopes to keep its class - looking for a sponsor

Turbine Potsdam will not become a yo-yo team in women's football. However, a few adjustments need to be made for long-term consolidation.

Turbine Potsdam aims for consolidation after securing promotion to the Bundesliga for women's football. "We want to drive forward the sporting development. That means, staying in the Bundesliga with our first team," said Turbine President Karsten Ritter-Lang to the "Märkische Allgemeine". Turbine kicks off the new Bundesliga season with a home game against reigning champions Bayern Munich on August 30th after a season in the second division.

For the 62-year-old doctor, the promotion, which was only secured on the last matchday, was inevitable. Financially, the club had stretched itself to the limit to achieve promotion: "We couldn't have done that for a second year. Unless a miracle happened on the sponsorship front - and miracles don't happen very often."

After finding a shirt sponsor in the last season through the "shortest and most pragmatic negotiation ever", Ritter-Lang now hopes for a long-term partner after the promotion to build structures: "What I miss a bit is the engagement of big companies that we undoubtedly have in Brandenburg, which also benefit from the location conditions here."

Turbine relies on its own youth

A long-term partnership would also benefit the youth teams. Despite having a girls' and women's football school certified by the DFB, the second team has personnel problems. "The youth is the basis for a very pragmatic survival strategy," said Ritter-Lang, "we know that players from our own youth have a much higher club loyalty and we can develop our squad more sustainably. We want to develop a squad situation with our own youth that allows us to play in the 1st league."

Ritter-Lang relies on the existing resources around the performance center. "Of course, they can earn more money in Munich or Cologne, but they also have to pay extremely high rents there." Turbine is the only club where players don't have to look for accommodation: "They just need to bring their suitcase and unpack it."

Following their promotion to the Bundesliga, Turbine Potsdam is focusing on maintaining their classification. This includes proper class maintenance of the facilities, ensuring the stadium and equipment are well-maintained to uphold the standards of the Bundesliga.

Additionally, President Karsten Ritter-Lang is eager to secure a long-term sponsorship partner to support the club's financial health and development, particularly the youth teams. This stable partnership will aid in the maintenance of the club, ensuring the sustainability of the team and the Class maintenance of Turbine Potsdam as a whole.
