A truck trailer caught fire on the A2 between the Brandenburg and Netzen interchanges in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, causing a motorway closure. The trailer, loaded with coffee, caught fire on Wednesday evening near Kloster Lehnin, as reported by the police. The truck driver was able to pull over safely and decouple the tractor unit, according to the fire department.

Due to the smoke, the motorway had to be initially closed in both directions. While the lane towards Magdeburg was later reopened, it remained closed in the direction of Potsdam.

No injuries were reported by the police. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were initially unknown. Police estimated that the cleanup operation would likely take until Thursday morning.

The closure affected traffic heading towards Potsdam, as the motorway remained closed in that direction. Other affected roads might need to be used as alternative routes due to the prolonged closure.

Despite the fire and subsequent closure, some commuters opted to take other routes to reach their destinations, hoping to avoid delays.
