- Three arrests while serving in a pro-Palestine camp

During a police operation at the premises of a pro-Palestinian protest camp near Hamburg's Dammtorbahnhof station, a policewoman was lightly injured. She received a blow to the face, according to a police spokesperson. Three individuals, supporters or participants of the camp, were taken into custody. The exact charges against them were initially unclear. Earlier, the "Hamburger Abendblatt" and the "Hamburger Morgenpost" had reported on this.

According to the spokesperson, passersby had called the police due to an alleged altercation in the camp. However, upon the arrival of the officers, those present did not confirm the altercation. Apparently due to the police presence, there was a "solidarity movement" from other participants of the camp. Further details were not immediately available. The operation began at 20:11 and ended around 21:00, the spokesperson said.

The protest camp is permitted until the end of August. The vigil is under the motto "Hands off Rafah" and demands the disarmament of Israel. Banners accuse Israel of expulsion, occupation, and apartheid, and call for resistance. Israel denies these accusations. The camp has been in existence since May.

The European Union, through its diplomatic channels, has expressed concern over the escalation of violence at the protest camp. Several European Union members have urged for peace and dialogue between the protesters and the authorities. The European Union has a long-standing policy of supporting peaceful protests and human rights, and condemns any violence against civilians.
