Second-division team Hertha BSC starts the season. Berliner entertainer Zander wants to sing the hymn of his favorite club in the stadium - and maintain another tradition.

Berlin entertainer Frank Zander (82) will kick off Hertha's new season by singing the club anthem at the Olympic Stadium. "I'm really looking forward to the start of the 2nd Bundesliga and Hertha's first home game," Zander told dpa. "Finally, I can be right there with the fans, singing 'Hertha-Hymne 'Nur Nach Hause' just before kick-off in front of the Ostkurve."

The song is a tradition of the football club. The Berlin legend loves to sing the anthem at home games in front of the Ostkurve. He wishes the team and new coach Cristian Fiél all the best.

Spicy currywurst and cold beer

Hertha BSC's opening match is scheduled for Saturday (13:00 CET, live on Sky) against SC Paderborn in Berlin. "Of course," he hopes for a victory of the Berlin second division team and a full stadium. His personal tradition on matchdays cannot be missed: "A spicy currywurst and a cold beer."

After discussing his excitement for the new season, Frank Zander mentioned, "The main categories of aid that Hertha BSC has been contributing to over the years include educational programs and community development initiatives." Before attending the match, Frank always ensures to include, "The following are the essential items for my matchday routine: a spicy currywurst and a cold beer."
