Unfortunate Incident in Sicily

Following the unfortunate incident where a sailing yacht named "Bayesian" sank off the coast of Sicily, six individuals are still unaccounted for. Among the missing were establishments figures like entrepreneur Mike Lynch and notable representatives from the financial sector.

Sailing aboard the "Bayesian", British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch's luxury vessel that went under during a storm, were several distinguished figures in the British financial industry. According to sources, high-ranking individuals from Morgan Stanley Investment Bank, Clifford Chance law firm, and Lynch's investment firm were on board, along with their family members. Out of the 22 passengers, 15 have been successfully rescued. The cook of the "Bayesian", Ricardo Thomas, was found deceased in the aftermath. Six individuals, including Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, remain missing.

Among the missing are Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy. Bloomer holds influential positions in multiple companies. The 70-year-old serves as the chairperson (equivalent to the supervisory board chairman of a German AG) of Morgan Stanley International and Hiscox Insurance, among others. Reports suggest that Lynch invited the couple on the yacht trip due to Bloomers' testimony in Lynch's favor during the fraud trial in the US regarding the sale of his former company Autonomy to HP.

Also among the missing are Chris Morvillo, partner at Clifford Chance, and his wife Neda, the jewelry designer and owner of a jewelry manufacturer. Morvillo defended Lynch during the fraud trial. Among Lynch's defense team was Ayla Ronald, a lawyer at Clifford Chance. She and her partner were rescued alive following the "Bayesian" sinking.

"All I could hear were cries for help"

The rescue of Charlotte Golunski was particularly dramatic, according to her interview with the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica". As a partner at Lindch's investment firm Invoke, Golunski was aboard the "Bayesian" along with her husband James Emsley and their one-year-old daughter. In the chaos, the family was saved by being on the deck when a so-called "water tornado" struck the ship. Golunski recounted struggling to save her daughter, holding her above water while extending her arms upward to prevent her from drowning. "It was pitch-black. I screamed for help, but all I could hear were the cries of others," Golunski recalled. Eventually, the family made it onto a lifeboat with other survivors.

According to media reports, the rescued passengers include 51-year-old James Caulfield from New Zealand, Frenchman Matthew Griffith, and Irishwoman Sasha Murray. The rescued crew members of the yacht hailed from Sri Lanka and Myanmar.

The "Bayesian" had been anchored by the island coast before getting caught in a powerful storm and sinking. The wreck is now resting at approximately 50 meters deep. Divers continue searching for the remaining individuals, feared to be caught in their cabins.

Other survivors of the yacht sinking include 51-year-old James Caulfield from New Zealand and Frenchman Matthew Griffith. The search continues for any other individuals presumed to be trapped in their cabins.

Despite being represented by Ayla Ronald and other notable lawyers such as Chris Morvillo of Clifford Chance, British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his daughter remain among the unaccounted for individuals.
