- The weather service:
The upcoming night invites you to watch the Perseids. The German Weather Service (DWD) expects a mostly clear sky, "at times it will be starry", said a spokesperson for the German Press Agency. Occasionally, a small cumulus cloud might appear, but generally, everyone will have the chance to see the Perseids. The temperatures also suggest a warm summer night: around 20 degrees Celsius is expected by the DWD.
Also visible on Tuesday night
The Perseids, one of the most famous meteor showers, will reach their peak on Monday evening. "The Perseids are putting on their annual show. Under optimal conditions, you might spot a meteor every two to three minutes," says the Max Planck Society.
"The downside on Monday afternoon is that individual showers and thunderstorms could form in the south and southwest," explained the DWD spokesperson. There, one might have to sit longer in the beer garden to see a clear sky again - but at night, it should clear up again, so that the Perseids should be well visible throughout the country.
No severe weather is currently expected for Monday, but it could increase on Tuesday and obstruct the view of the Perseids at night.
Overcoming the potential weather challenges, make sure to gaze at the Perseids on Tuesday night as well. The spectacle of heaven, the Perseids, might still be visible despite the possible increase in weather disturbances on Tuesday, offering a breathtaking sight of heavenly fireworks.
