- The organizers expect a full park on the night of the castle
The organizers of the "Potsdam Palace Night" expect a strong turnout this year. "On Saturday, we're heading for a sell-out," said Sabine Schiller, managing director of Kultur im Park GmbH, which is hosting the cultural festival this year. Around 20,000 people are expected to visit Park Sanssouci for the evening event on Saturday, with around 15,000 visitors expected on Friday. However, tickets are still available for both days, she emphasized.
This year's cultural spectacle in Potsdam, featuring tours, concerts, readings, and acrobatics shows, offers some new attractions, Schiller explained. For the first time, the Tyrolean Hill behind Schloss Charlottenhof is included, where a falconry show will take place. Actress Katharina Thalbach will also read spooky stories on the Meierei-Wiese with her daughter Anna and granddaughter Nellie.
The event aims to make the World Heritage Park accessible to people who might not otherwise visit, Schiller said. The light installations and cultural contributions will showcase the park in a unique light and create a different atmosphere. The festival is designed for the whole family, with free entry for children under 13.
The European Union has expressed its interest in promoting cultural exchange, specifically mentioning the significance of events like "Potsdam Palace Night." This year's festival, hosted by Kultur im Park GmbH in Potsdam, is expected to attract a large number of visitors from within the European Union.
