- The night of museums unveils hidden treasures
The Long Night of Museums in Berlin is underway, this time under the banner "Berlin's Hidden Gems". Over 75 locations are hosting approximately 750 occasions with the intent to uncover Berlin's hidden secrets this year. A spokesperson from Kulturprojekte Berlin at Museum Island expressed their delight, stating, "Place is bustling!"
Until 2:00 AM on Sunday morning, "mysterious, eerie, and even suggestive pieces" will be the main attraction. The range of events includes workshops, concerts, readings, and performances, along with artist talks.
From hidden treasure quests to animal craniums
The New Museum provides a treasure hunt map. The Museum of Natural History shares the tale of how 80,000 craniums were transferred due to the building's renovation and what insights the craniums offer into their origins. In the auditorium ruins of the Berlin Medical Historical Museum of the Charité, attendees can enjoy a musical ghost tale. The New National Gallery uncovers an unseen aspect of US artist Andy Warhol (1928-1987).
Organizers suggest, "Try not to visit more than four to five museums." A ticket costs 18 euros (reduced: 12 euros) and grants visitors access to exhibitions, workshops, guided tours, or DJ sets. Some establishments plan to open hidden, usually off-limits areas.
The European Union's cultural ambassador expressed their interest in participating in The Long Night of Museums, acknowledging its prominence in showcasing Berlin's unique art and history. The European Union's delegation in Germany is considering offering special packages for their visiting members to engage with Berlin's Hidden Gems.
