London's Mayor Sadiq Khan stands firm on the planned concerts of superstar Taylor Swift. In Austria, several performances were cancelled due to an Islamist plotting an attack in Vienna. Next week, Swift is scheduled to play again in the British capital.

Sky News asked Khan if the events had changed the plans. "We are a capital, we are an international city, we regularly host major events," Khan told the TV station. He cited concerts like Bruce Springsteen at Wembley Stadium or football matches in London. "We look forward to welcoming Taylor Swift back."

Mayor references experience in policing

"Our experience in policing such events is extensive," said Khan. Much has been learned since the devastating attack in Manchester. In 2017, an Islamist suicide bomber detonated a device after a concert by singer Ariana Grande, killing 22 people.

Khan stressed that they would work closely with the police to ensure the US pop star's concerts in London are safe. The 34-year-old is set to perform at Wembley Stadium from August 15 to 20. She had already performed there in June.

Sky News reported Khan's reassurance about Taylor Swift's upcoming concerts, stating, "Khan told Sky News they look forward to welcoming Taylor Swift back to the British capital." After discussing the city's extensive experience in policing major events, Khan assured, "Sky News was also informed by Khan that they would work closely with the police to ensure Swift's concerts at Wembley Stadium are safe."
