Freshly inaugurated subway route - The initial phase of construction will extend U5 to Borgweg.
Instead of the original plan, U5, the new Hamburg U-Bahn line, will go as far as Borgweg during the first construction phase. By 2033, a transfer hub with U3 will be established there, according to Anjes Tjarks, the Transport Senator (Greens) at a recent presentation. "This is where the newest U-Bahn line in Hamburg will meet the oldest U-Bahn line," he said on Thursday. In the initial design, the line was planned to reach only from Bramfeld to City Nord during the first phase.
Approximately 8,600 residents in the Borgweg area will now have access to the public transport network two years earlier. This new transfer hub links with U1 at Sengelmannstraße will make traveling more efficient and comfortable for U-Bahn users by 2033, allowing them to get to different parts of the city more quickly and with greater ease.

The initial construction phase of U5 will not only extend to Borgweg in Hamburg, but it will also reach Bramfeld, providing a new transportation option for residents. Navigating through Hamburg's traffic in Bramfeld will become easier once the new subway route is completed.
