The Hollywood star makes his Broadway debut

In the absurd "Bill & Ted" comedies, Hollywood stars Keanu Reeves (59) and Alex Winter (59) have already experienced many adventures together. Now, the two actors and close friends are also conquering Broadway together. In the fall of 2025, they will be seen in New York in a production of the play "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett (1906-1989).

Beckett's play is considered a classic of absurdist theater and tells the story of the two vagabonds Estragon and Vladimir, who wait for the arrival of a mysterious title figure named Godot - who never appears. Reeves will play Estragon in the production, Winter will slip into the role of Vladimir.

Absurd Broadway debut for Keanu Reeves

For Keanu Reeves, this theatrical reunion with his "Bill & Ted" colleague marks his Broadway debut. Alex Winter has already been seen on Broadway, among other things in the musical "Peter Pan" in 1979. For the revival of "Waiting for Godot", the renowned theater maker Jamie Lloyd (43) will direct.

As reported by the theater magazine "Playbill", Reeves and Winter announced their future collaboration on the Broadway stage in a joint statement. It says: "We are incredibly excited to stand together on stage and work with the brilliant Jamie Lloyd on one of our favorite plays."

Director Jamie Lloyd is also enthusiastic and comments on the theater coup with the following words: "It is a great honor to work with the brilliant Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter on Samuel Beckett's great masterpiece - one of the greatest theater plays of all time".

Keanu Reeves' Broadway debut in "Waiting for Godot" is being directed by Jamie Lloyd. In their joint statement, Reeves and Winter expressed their excitement to work with Lloyd on one of their favorite plays.
