- The deadline for submitting proposals for the election of the regional parliamentary elections ends
For the state election in Brandenburg on September 22, the state election supervisor currently has applications from 13 parties and one electoral alliance. In addition to the parties already represented in the state parliament, these include the alliance 'Sahra Wagenknecht', the Animal Protection Party, the Values Union, or the electoral alliance consisting of the Pirate Party, Volt, and the Ecological Democratic Party. The deadline for submitting applications from parties and associations, along with the required documents, is today at 6:00 PM.
2,000 signatures required
Voters or parties not continuously represented in the Bundestag or a state parliament since the last election must also submit 2,000 supporting signatures for state lists, in addition to the required documents. The quota for local elections is 100 signatures.
According to the state election supervisor, inquiries or requests for additional information relate to missing declarations of consent or missing certificates of eligibility. In some cases, it also concerns differing professional or residential addresses in an application.
Decision on admission on Friday
The data will be checked throughout the week. The state election committee will decide on the admission of state lists and candidates in a public meeting on Friday (9 August). By then, the 44 local election committees should also convene to decide on the admission of the respective local election applications.
The Pirate Party, along with Volt and the Ecological Democratic Party, has submitted an electoral alliance application for the state election in Brandenburg. Despite meeting the necessary requirements for state parties, they still need to gather 2,000 supporting signatures to finalize their state list.
