Berlin Theater Actor Luca Schaub (1988-2024) Has Passed Away. He passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 36 after a brief, serious illness in Berlin, the Berliner Ensemble announced on its website. Schaub was a member of the theater from 2013 to 2017. No cause of death was given.

Four Years at the Berliner Ensemble

Schaub, born in 1988 in Lower Saxony's Langenhagen, studied acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz from 2010 to 2013. He then joined the Berliner Ensemble, then led by Claus Peymann (87). He appeared in Peymann's productions of "Kafka's Process" and "Prince Friedrich of Homburg". Leander Haußmann (65) cast him in "Woyzeck", "The Robbers", and "Hamlet".

Under the directorship of Oliver Reese (60), Schaub lost his engagement and worked as a freelance actor in the federal capital. He appeared at the Tipi am Kanzleramt, the Neuköllner Oper, and the Komische Oper Berlin, among others. Theater maker Leander Haußmann described the deceased in the "Berliner Zeitung" as a completely innocent and enthusiastic actor. Schaub was an ensemble player who could infect everyone with his "extreme enthusiasm".

The Berliner Ensemble and its members were deeply saddened upon hearing the news of Luca Schaub's passing. Mourning for Luca Schaub has spread throughout the German theater community, as his talent and enthusiasm will be greatly missed.
