Breathless due to 45 minutes

45 minutes? Nowadays, laughable to her: Helene Fischer

That's how 21 year old Helene Fischer got her show on the air.

When Helene Fischer steps onto the stage today, she usually gives her all for at least three hours. But when she was 21, it was a different story. Even before a 45-minute performance, she was already quite nervous, as a video from the early days of her career proves.

Hard to believe, but true: Since Monday, Helene Fischer has turned 40. The singer's social media team has come up with something special for the occasion. "To celebrate Helene's 40th birthday, we'll be sharing one of the most entertaining moments from her impressive career every day," it says on the singer's Instagram page.

This week alone, there have been two clips from Fischer's earlier days on her account - a snippet from her appearance on "Verstehen Sie Spaß?" in 2016, and a concert recording from 2015, where she performed "Atemlos durch die Nacht" in the Berlin Olympic Stadium in pouring rain.

But the most recent video, dug up from the archives by Fischer's team, is a real treat. It shows the then up-and-coming singer just before a performance in the early days of her career. "Yes, I'm Helene Fischer, I'm 21 years old," she introduces herself politely to a reporter.

Market instead of stadium

"I have the pleasure today - in Koselitz, here at the market - to sing," she continues. "And this will be my longest performance, as I've never sung for 45 minutes straight before. I'm excited, I'm curious to see how it goes," she says, showing a bit of nervousness.

Who among the spectators in Koselitz at the time could have guessed what career lay ahead for the young singer? And even Helene Fischer herself probably wouldn't have dared to dream back then that she would later swap the market in the small Saxon town for the largest stadiums in the country.

Needless to say, a 45-minute show would be beneath Fischer's dignity these days. Her concert spectacles now typically last around three hours, without showing the slightest sign of fatigue.

Despite her current three-hour concert stints without fatigue, Helene Fischer's team is sharing daily 'entertaining' moments from her career on social media to celebrate her 40th birthday. The 'most entertaining' of these clips shows the young singer, back when she was 21, nervously introducing herself before a 45-minute performance at a market in Koselitz.
