Tech businessperson Lynch included among the recovered deceased individuals

The 56-meter opulent yacht named "Bayesian," accompanied by a crew of ten and twelve vacationers, encountered trouble off the coast of Sicily's Porticello on Monday night, thanks to a waterspout, a maritime version of a tornado. Fifteen individuals were successfully rescued from the vessel.

Later, six bodies were retrieved from the sea, including tech mogul Mike Lynch, famously referred to as the "British Bill Gates." The whereabouts of a missing woman are currently unknown, although various news sources speculate that she could be Lynch's daughter Hannah.

The cause behind the yacht's unfortunate demise remains a mystery. Giovanni Costantino, the head of the boat builder's company, shared his thoughts on Tuesday, questioning whether the tragedy could have been prevented. "The series of events leading up to this incident appears to be a chain of significant mistakes," Costantino admitted to the newspaper "Corriere della Sera."

As per Costantino's statement, there should always be a watch kept on a ship when it is moored in any location. "Had there been a watch on duty, they would have spotted the encroaching storm," he explained, lamenting over the fact that the passengers were not alerted and the doors and hatches remained open. Water reportedly seeped into the vessel while the passengers were still asleep in their cabins, trapping them with no chance of escape.

Media sources in Italy claim that the passengers were Lynch's guests, as he celebrated his acquittal in a billion-dollar fraud trial on the yacht. In June, Lynch was cleared of fraud charges in the US following the sale of his software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard. The prosecution accused him of falsifying documents and exaggerating his company's income, with the "Sunday Times" estimating Lynch's net worth to be approximately 587 million euros.

The rescue operation involved both men and women, with the crew attempting to save everyone on board. Despite the efforts, the whereabouts of Hannah Lynch, a woman, remain unclear.
