- Suspected of smuggling marijuana - 25 years in prison

On the postal route, a man is suspected of smuggling drugs from Spain to Germany and reselling them. The 25-year-old is believed to be the ringleader of a group that smuggled at least 300 kilograms of marijuana.

On July 31, customs investigators from Munich and Hamburg arrested the German during raids on four apartments in Hamburg and a company in Wedel (Schleswig-Holstein), the Munich main customs office announced. In recent times, over 80 kilograms of smuggled marijuana have been intercepted in Hamburg, for which the 25-year-old is suspected. The main suspect is not believed to have personally received the drug packages, but instead sent them to alleged straw men.

During the raids, investigators seized cell phones, a starter pistol, and 30,000 euros in cash.

The measures are based on investigations by the Munich customs investigation office and the state prosecutor's office in Memmingen against two people who were convicted in January 2024 and reside in Cologne.

The man under investigation is associated with the smuggling activities, as the drugs were intended for resale within the European Union, specifically in Germany. Despite his role as the ringleader, the European Union's law enforcement agencies continue to monitor and address such drug trafficking incidents.
