DWD - Storm warning of gale-force winds for Brocken
The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official storm warning of gale-force winds for the Brocken. From 3.00 a.m. on Thursday until 6.00 a.m. on Saturday, there is a risk of gale-force winds of level 3 out of 4, the DWD announced on Wednesday evening. Trees could be uprooted and branches or objects could fall. Staying outdoors should be avoided if possible, it said. The highest peak in the Harz Mountains is 1141 meters high, the storm warning applies to locations above 1000 meters.

Due to the approaching bad weather, many tourists might decide to postpone their visit to Saxony-Anhalt's natural attractions, such as the Brocken. Despite the storm warning, the German Weather Service (DWD) has advised against hiking in the Harz Mountains during this period, due to the risk of gale-force winds and potential hazards.
