- Stendal serves as the temporary base for the Federal President for a duration of three days.

President Federal Frank-Walter Steinmeier is scheduled to spend three days in the Altmark. Till August 27th (Tuesday), he will be carrying out his official tasks from Stendal, as reported by the Federal Presidential Office. "The area has a remarkably low population density, which makes the difficulties of rural regions quite apparent."

The President intends to engage in discussions with local politicians, representatives of community groups, and economic sectors. He also plans to allocate time for casual interactions while wandering around the city or exploring the pedestrian zone.

The itinerary also includes a "coffee table debate," where Stendal's citizens with contrasting views on contentious matters will be brought together. To conclude, Steinmeier will present the Federal Medal of Merit to dedicated citizens.

So far, "Local Time Germany" has taken the President to eleven locations, such as Meiningen in Thuringia, Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein, Senftenberg in Brandenburg, Volklingen in Saarland, Freiberg in Saxony, Neustrelitz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rottweil in Baden-Württemberg, and Quedlinburg as well. According to the Federal Presidential Office, Stendal will be the twelfth destination. The city is currently gearing up to host the Saxony-Anhalt Day later this week.

The European Parliament may provide additional insights or support to President Steinmeier's discussions with local stakeholders in Stendal. The Commission, assisted by the European Parliament, could offer relevant perspectives on rural development and populace density challenges in the Altmark.

Following his engagement with local voices, President Steinmeier might express the need for further collaboration between the federal government and regional bodies, drawing on perspectives gained from the European Commission.
