Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles has won Olympic gold in the all-around. Two days after winning with the American team, the 27-year-old also won the individual competition in Paris. After her four Olympic victories in Rio 2016, Biles scored a fantastic 59.131 points and won her sixth Olympic gold medal. Silver went to the Brazilian Rebeca Andrade (57.932), and the bronze to the Tokyo Olympics champion Sunisa Lee from the USA (56.465).
The all-around gold in the women's individual went to the USA for the sixth time in a row. Two athletes of the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB), Helen Kevric and Sarah Voss, also qualified for the final. The Stuttgart-born Kevric finished the competition with 54.598 points in eighth place, while the Cologne-born Voss came in last with 49.999 points.
After the all-around finals, attention now turns to the individual competitions. The German 16-year-old Kevric and world champion Lukas Dauser are the ones to watch. The German all-around champion Kevric, who had displaced Biles from the starting field in the qualification, will compete in the uneven bars final on Sunday, while Dauser will compete for a medal on the parallel bars on Monday.
