Long-time SPD politician Eleonore Mühlbauer is temporarily returning to the Thuringian state parliament as a member. The 60-year-old is replacing the late Thomas Hartung, as announced by the Thuringian state parliament. Hartung had unexpectedly passed away at the end of July after a severe illness. His death sparked deep mourning across party lines.

Mühlbauer was a member of the state parliament and a member of the SPD faction between 2009 and 2019. She is a qualified architect and lives in Arnstadt. Her time as a member is likely to be brief: New elections for the Thuringian state parliament will take place on September 1.

Mühlbauer's replacement in the Landtag of Thuringia is being carried out by the long-time SPD politician Eleonore Mühlbauer. The upcoming elections for the Thuringian state parliament on September 1 will determine the tenure of Mühlbauer in her new role.
