- Segments of the Carola Bridge succumbed in Dresden.
Part of the Carolabridge in Dresden succumbed to collapse into the Elbe during the night. This incident impacted the walkway and bike lane, in addition to the tram tracks, as a representative from the emergency situation center revealed in the morning. The Dresden Fire Department claimed the affected stretch to be around 100 meters long. This incident led to a substantial leakage of heated water from the bridge's end on the old town side.
The Dresden Transport Authority manifested that no tram was on the bridge at the time of the collapse. Consequently, no passengers or vehicles sustained harm. Ordinarily, lines 3 and 7 operate every hour, even during the night on weekdays. The southern half of the bridge, stretching across Terrassenufer street and a portion of the Elbe, is the affected area. Numerous detours are currently in operation.
The Dresden Transport Authority had to implement alternative routes for lines 3 and 7 due to the collapse, as the southern half of the Carolabridge, including the transport and telecommunications infrastructure, was affected. This disruption in the transport and telecommunications system has caused some inconvenience for commuters in the area.
