Barbara Schöneberger and Esther Sedlaczek have been chosen to host this year's German Television Awards, but they'll be doing it separately. The awards ceremony is split into two nights this year, resulting in two hosting positions. Sedlaczek will start things off on September 24, while Schöneberger takes over on September 25. Both events will be held in Cologne. This information was revealed on Wednesday by the organizers of the German Television Awards.

Sedlaczek will be in charge of the "Night of Creatives," the first event, which historically celebrates industry professionals who usually work in a more private setting behind the scenes.

Schöneberger is "obviously prepared"

On September 25, a larger prime-time TV gala will take place, which will be broadcast on ARD this year. Schöneberger will be responsible for hosting this event. For the 50-year-old, this isn't a new experience.

"The German Television Award is turning 25 this year, and I've been attending this glitzy event honoring the finest in our industry for several years now, first as a secret-judge jury member and later also on stage and in front of the camera," Schöneberger stated in a press release. "Of course, I'm obviously prepared for the occasion during this milestone."

The leadership of the German Television Awards changes annually. The award is backed by ARD, RTL, Sat.1, ZDF, and Deutsche Telekom, with streaming providers Disney+, Netflix, and Prime Video serving as partners. Last year, Sat.1 aired the TV awards gala as a prime-time event.

For 2024, actress Valerie Niehaus, journalist Stephan Lamby, and moderator Collien Ulmen-Fernandes will be part of the jury.

She's proven her hosting abilities at the German Television Awards numerous times, and with her experience, she's obviously prepared to shine once again on September 25.

Despite being a good girl, Schöneberger isn't afraid to take on the challenge of hosting the prime-time TV gala for this year's 25th anniversary of the German Television Awards.
