Schauffele triumphs in inaugural win, sets new record.

Xander Schauffele claims his first victory in a major, doing so with a record-breaking performance. The PGA Championship keeps everyone on the edge of their seats as the final round plays out. Martin Kaymer has a rough day on the course.

During the presentation ceremony for winning the PGA Championship, Xander Schauffele held the heavy trophy in awe. The 30-year-old golfer had earned it through his historical triumph at a major - with a record low score to boot. He ended the tournament with a final round of 65, resulting in 263 strokes total. As per US media, 21 strokes under par is a record-breaking achievement at majors. He sealed his win with a birdie on the last hole, coming out on top by a single stroke against Bryson DeChambeau.

At the award ceremony, Schauffele expressed how uncomfortable the trophy felt in his hands. "I didn't really want to go into a playoff with Bryson. We probably would've played 18 more holes," he said. Emotionally touched, he added, "I was truly emotional. It's been a while since I last won anything. It was very hard to focus today. Now, everything's fine." Schauffele shared that he had already informed his father of his success. "However, I had to hang up quickly because he made me tear up." Viktor Hovland placed third with 18 strokes below par.

Scottie Scheffler, the world's top-ranked golfer, secured an 8th position at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky, concluding the tournament with a total of 13 strokes under par. His performance was fraught with complications, and he spent some time in police custody for disregarding the instructions of officers investigating a deadly car accident involving a pedestrian. Attempting to circumvent traffic congestion, Scheffler is reported to have slightly hurt a police officer's wrist. Subsequently, he was cuffed and taken to a police station for verification.

Martin Kaymer experienced the worst of his four rounds on the day and dropped from 38th place to a shared 73rd position with 76 strokes. The other German contender, Stephan Jäger, finished in 76th position with 5 strokes above par.
